MAKING OF THE HEADBOARD - FINAL PART

Staple the buttons in the holes by sewing in using a bigger needle. Staple behind so that the buttons get embedded and gives elegant look. Should be done skillfully so that the folds are symmetric and looks good. Tuck the fabric and staple it from the sides. Hammer nails in the wall to anchor the headboard. 

Cost Analysis -
Plywood - Rs 850
Skirting Wood - Rs 800
Foam - Rs 1500
Skirting Foam (from scrap foam) - Rs 300
Glue - Rs 500
Kora - around three meters Rs 300
Fabric three meters (depends upon your choice can be from 500/m to 2000 /m. I used 1100rs/m) - Rs 3300.
Buttons - Rs 300
Total around Rs 8000/- The cost of same quality of headboard available on some sites is from Rs20000 to Rs 25000.

After draping it with Kora cover, make scissor pricks at the holes. Make fabric buttons or get them done from button house from market. Drape the fabric and staple the buttons properly.

After cutting the plywood, mark it so that buttons can be stitched afterwards. Drill holes 3/8 inch. See to it that the markings are such that the buttons would be symmetric. Apply glue and paste foam with foam boarder. With a driller and special tool drill holes on the foam. Cover it by Kora and staple it.  

MAKING OF HEADBOARD - Part I

Our beds require headboard so that when we sit our head rests on it and the wall does not get oil stains. Also some sort of cushion effect gives comfort to the user. Here are steps to make a Headboard. there will be more of pictures and less of description. 

We require 

-A plywood piece 8 mm to half inch thick.

- 2 inch by half inch skirting wooden planks to give strength to the ply wood

- 2 inch foam to give cushioning effect.

- 1 inch thickness foam for skirting.

- Kora fabric to act as cover to the foam.

- Staples for stapling 

- Upholstery fabric to cover.
